I don't remember getting much either. I just remember my high school counselor laughing when I told him I wanted to be a teacher. He thought I should become a doctor or lawyer since I was the class valedictorian. I don't know what type of people he thinks should be teaching our students. I guess he believed that old silly saying, "Those who can DO, those who can't TEACH," or whatever it is. If people only knew the reality behind it all.
I did get some counseling in high school. I remember meeting with the counselor and looking at up and coming careers. She did a good job and was maybe ahead of her time and also I went to a small school where we were like one big family. I am presently working at that same school and hope to be able to provide this same service to my students in the near future.

ReplyDeleteTrue statement! I am excited yet scared about our job choices for our youth of today. I sure hope the job market improves.
